Terms & Conditions.
The rules under which you use bakeqee: scope, conclusion of contract, services and liability.
What these Terms apply to.
These Terms and Conditions apply to the use of the bakeqee platform and its associated mobile applications, operated by maikITseb GbR. By registering, you enter into a usage agreement with us and accept these Terms.
How the contract is concluded.
The contract is concluded upon successful registration. The platform is intended for users aged 16 and above.
By completing registration and accepting these Terms, you confirm that you are at least 16 years old. No separate confirmation is required. Acceptance of these Terms constitutes your declaration that you meet this age requirement. We may verify age during the registration process. Should we discover that an account belongs to a user under the age of 16, we will suspend or delete the account in accordance with applicable data protection law.
What the platform offers.
The platform provides tools for documenting baking processes, developing recipes, and interacting with a community. Some of the features listed below are still under development and may not yet be fully available.
- Process documentation (times, temperatures, ingredients)
- Recipe development and collaborative forking
- Community interactions (posts, comments, feedback)
- Ingredient and inventory management
- AI-assisted baking support
The Founding Members program.
bakeqee is built together with a community of early supporters whom we call Founding Members. The Founding Members program is a limited program with the following terms.
What it is
- The Founding Members program is limited to the first 100 people whom we accept after an application process.
- Acceptance into the program is at our sole discretion. We aim to build a diverse group across baking experience, geography, and devices.
- The program closes permanently once 100 spots are filled. We will not expand this cap.
What Founding Members receive
- Lifetime free Pro access to bakeqee across all platforms where bakeqee is available (web, and any future native mobile apps).
- A “Founding Member” badge displayed in their profile.
- Regular updates from us about what we are building.
- Direct access to us through the in-app feedback area.
How “lifetime free” works in practice
On the web application, Founding Members are granted Pro features through their account, at no cost.
On native mobile apps (iOS, Android), Founding Members will receive Pro features through their bakeqee account upon signing in. Founding Members are not required to make any in-app purchases. Should the respective app store policies prevent us from technically delivering this for any platform, we will offer an equivalent solution (such as direct reimbursement or web access).
Limitations
- Founding Member status is personal and non-transferable. It cannot be sold, gifted, or assigned.
- Founding Member status is tied to a specific user account. If the account is deleted, the status expires permanently and cannot be restored on a new account.
- “Lifetime” refers to the lifetime of bakeqee as a service, not the natural lifetime of the member.
Data export
You have the right to export your data at any time under Art. 20 GDPR. Should we discontinue bakeqee, we will inform users in advance and provide a way to export their data before any shutdown.
What we expect
- Founding Members are not employees, partners, or shareholders. The program does not grant any equity, voting rights, or legal claim to the GbR.
- We welcome and value feedback from Founding Members. There is no obligation to provide feedback, but the program is designed for those who want to actively shape the platform.
Changes to the program
We will not retroactively reduce the benefits of existing Founding Members. Any future changes will only apply to new or modified membership tiers, not to existing Founding Members.
Change of ownership
In case of a sale or acquisition of bakeqee, we will do everything in our power to preserve the Founding Member status. However, we cannot provide a legal guarantee for this.
Your user account.
Users must provide accurate information and keep their credentials secure.
- Users may have only one personal account. Multiple accounts per person are not permitted.
- Account credentials must be kept confidential. The user is responsible for all activity under their account.
- Users may delete their account at any time.
- We may suspend or terminate accounts for violations of these Terms, with or without notice depending on the severity of the violation.
- Account suspension does not affect the user's right to data export under Art. 20 GDPR.
User content & rights.
Users grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to:
- Display their content as part of the normal operation of the platform to other users in accordance with the user's privacy settings
- Enable forking functionality, where other users may create derivative versions while original authorship remains visible
- Store and process the content as needed to operate the platform
We will NOT use your content for marketing, external promotion, or training of AI systems without your explicit consent.
When you delete content or your account, we will remove the content from the platform within a reasonable timeframe, except where already-shared forks of your content continue to exist (these will remain attributed to you unless you specifically request otherwise).
Users are responsible for ensuring their content does not infringe third-party rights.
Bako, our AI helper.
Bako, our AI assistant, is planned for a future release of bakeqee and is not yet available. Once launched, Bako will provide suggestions based on your input and your own baking history, only when you ask.
We will update these Terms before launching Bako, including details about data use, opt-out options, and limitations.
When introduced, AI outputs will be probabilistic and may be inaccurate. They do not constitute professional advice. You remain responsible for food safety and proper use of your equipment.
Community guidelines.
Users must behave respectfully and may not post:
- Illegal content, including content that incites violence, discrimination, or hate
- Sexually explicit or pornographic content
- Spam, advertising, or solicitation
- Content infringing intellectual property rights
- Personal information of others without consent
- Content that misrepresents identity (impersonation)
We may remove content or restrict accounts in case of violations. Repeated or severe violations may result in permanent account suspension.
What we're liable for. And what not.
We are liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence, and for damages to life, body, or health.
For slight negligence, liability is limited to essential contractual obligations and foreseeable damages.
We are not liable for unsuccessful baking results unless caused by a breach of our obligations.
Data protection.
Personal data is processed in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
When you close your account.
You may terminate your account at any time through the account settings. Termination is effective immediately upon confirmation.
Upon termination
- Your personal data will be deleted in accordance with our Privacy Policy
- You may export all your data in JSON or CSV format before terminating
- Forks of your content created by other users may remain on the platform (see § 06)
- Founding Member status, if applicable, expires permanently and cannot be restored
We may terminate accounts for violations of these Terms. In such cases, we will inform you of the reason and provide a reasonable opportunity to export your data.
When the terms change.
We may update these Terms. We will inform users of significant changes in time.
Applicable law.
German law applies, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. Mandatory consumer-protection laws of the user's country of residence remain unaffected.
